I grew up a shy kid in a small town and was one of a handful of people of color throughout the entirety of my education. Naturally, I grew up feeling very… other. I was always drawing, painting, or nose-deep in a book from a very young age, but once I reached high school I found my greatest solace in film. Seeing myself represented was the comfort I needed and craved, and I knew that was an experience I wanted to create for others. It wasn’t long before I picked up a camera and truly found my passion.
After high school, I went on to attend the University of Oklahoma majoring in Creative Media Production and minoring in Film and Media Studies - both a privilege and an honor as a first-generation college student. I began my professional career during my college days as an agency video/photo intern, where I had my first on-set experiences and learned the basics of production. Upon graduation, I worked as a Producer, where I learned the importance of time, resource, and financial management. I then returned to my production roots as a full-time Filmmaker, where I ventured into larger-budget projects as a Director, Cinematographer, and Editor, and truly began to sharpen my abilities.
Today, I continue to work as a freelance commercial Director, Cinematographer, and Photographer. As the first-born child of an immigrant family, hustle and hard work is all I know. The work ethic and resilience my family has instilled in me have fueled me as a woman of color in this industry, and I am determined to continue growing.
